Despite not having fourth quarter wages for 2016 released yet, this represents a 19% increase over the past 5 years. Typically fourth quarter wages are the highest and when release could mean wages have increased by over 20% since 2011.

On March 27, 2017 the Hays CISD school board voted to approve the freeport tax exemption, which had been previously denied in 1989. The freeport exemption provides a property tax exemption on inventory such as goods, wares, and merchandise that leave the state of Texas in 175 days or less.

The 2017 edition of these reports not only includes demographic information for the City of Buda, the Primary Retail Trade Area, and Secondary Retail Trade Area but now includes drive time and radius reports as well. Austin-born Deep Eddy Vodka plans to relocate its distillery and base of operations from Dripping Springs to the City of Buda. On September 20, 2016, the Buda City Council unanimously approved a Chapter 380 Agreement and adopted a resolution authorizing an economic development agreement between the Buda Economic Development Corporation, Deep Eddy and its parent company Heaven Hill. The Kentucky-based liquor company purchased Deep Eddy Vodka in 2015.
