Electric vehicle supplier incentivized for potential ‘milestone’ project south of Austin

A Korean company that makes parts for the electric vehicle industry appears to be eyeing an expansion south of Austin.

Futronic USA Inc., a subsidiary of Korea-based Futronic Co. Ltd., on June 18 was unanimously approved by the Buda City Council for financial incentives of up to $600,000 and a performance agreement. The motion passed unanimously with no discussion after the Council met in executive session.

Many details about the agreement — codenamed “Project Forward Motion” in economic development discussions — were not immediately available, including the location of where the company could set up shop and the potential size of its workforce. The company in November filed to do business in Texas with the address of a Houston-based incorporation service company.
