About the Executive Director-- The Executive Director of the Buda EDC of is the principal economic developer in Buda. The Executive Director demonstrates a high degree of integrity, energy, and leadership and is responsible for Buda economic efforts and vision. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation and implementation of the organization’s strategies and objectives. This position requires about 20% travel time. The Executive Director:

· Oversees the budgetary and financial management of the Buda EDC
· Oversees staff selection, training, and supervision of the exempt BEDC staff
· Oversees the preparation and presentation of funding proposals and the administration of contracts and grants
· Creates an environment of professionalism and excellence within the Buda business community
· Provides leadership and vision for Buda economic development efforts
· Develops and oversees a plan of economic action encompassing the key program areas: Business Attraction, Retention & Expansion, Community Development, and Leadership Development
· Develops and maintains superior working relationships with other economic development partners in Hays County, Central Texas, the State of Texas and federal agencies as applicable
· Develops effective partnerships with local, city, and county officials involving them in economic development strategies and planning
· Provides regular status reports for all ongoing plans and projects to the Buda EDC Board of Directors
· Oversees notification of all meetings, preparation and distribution of meeting agendas and other official documents
· Provides a leadership role in development and implementation of the Strategic Plan
· Directs and oversees public relations and marketing campaigns and serves as the official spokesperson of the Buda EDC
· Serves as a liaison to local, state, and national elected officials to further economic development in Buda
· Plans, organizes, and hosts special events designed to showcase and promote Buda
· Organizes and leads regular staff meetings 
Serve as a resource to city departments and provide leadership as needed
· Other assignments and responsibilities assigned by the Buda EDC Board of Directors


Low to mid $100,000's with a comprehensive benefit package

Job Requirements:

Qualifications Sought:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an undergraduate degree in political science, marketing, business or related field; Master of Public or Business Administration preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of leadership role in an economic development agency with similar focus at the local, regional, state-level or similar setting
Supervisory experience
A successful track record of accomplishment in economic development
Successful experience in working with site selection consultants and corporate real estate professionals
Finalists are subject to provisions of the Buda EDC in terms of its hiring policies which may include drug screening and background checks.
